Phil Mickelson created a record at the 2017 Presidents Cup by winning a match with Kevin Kisner against Team Internationals. It was his 25th win, breaking Tiger Woods’ record of 24 most wins in the team event. Amy Mickelson, his wife, and his three children have accompanied the golfer to watch him play whenever they can. However, according to Mickelson, since his children were too little, they couldn’t understand what it meant to him. “My kids are at an age where they appreciate these moments now,” he added.

Creating a record was a major achievement in Mickelson‘s career. Yet, he considered making memories together with his family more important. While this may come as news to golf newbies, it is not an unknown fact in the golf world that Lefty will choose his family over his career every time.

He almost withdrew from the 1999 US Open Championship to be with his pregnant wife, who was about to give birth to their firstborn. Furthermore, he has withdrawn from the 2017 US Open to attend his eldest daughter’s high school graduation ceremony.
