The PGA Tour and LIV Golf’s feud has gone on for about six months now. The battle appears to be heating up, with members from both sides taking shots at each other. The Saudi-backed league’s CEO, Greg Norman, recently called out the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods. He said instead of hating on him, the PGA Tour players, including Woods, should be thanking him.

Contrarily, LIV golf defector, Bryon DeChambeau, openly thanked the golf legend in a recent podcast.
Greg Norman slams the PGA Tour stars
In a recent interview, Greg clapped back at the PGA Tour players. He said that the only reason the PGA Tour had changed the way it had was because of LIV. The shark explained that LIV Golf’s competition with the tour had made them increase the prize money and the bonuses. He claimed to be proud to be a part of that. Norman said, “What they’ve done within the PGA Tour in such a short period of time is testament to what competition is all about.”

Greg believed he deserved a thank-you from Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods instead of the abuse he was receiving. He stated, “Every PGA TOUR player should be thanking LIV, including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, because the PIP program wouldn’t have been increased without LIV.”
Norman claims that without LIV as competition, the stars wouldn’t have seen the huge amounts of money that they did. He believes that “Competition is the best thing in life, in business and in sport.”
DeChambeau thanks Tiger Woods
While Norman demanded appreciation from the golf legends, Bryson DeChambeau, a LIV Golf loyalist, recently thanked Woods. In a podcast with Five Clubs, Bryson opened up about his career. He thanked the PGA Tour and Tiger Woods in particular for being the “foundations” of his profession. He said, “I have all of them to thank.”

The former US Open victor commented on how Tiger was a vital part of golf and the reason for its visibility. He claimed LIV Golf would’ve never begun had golf not got the recognition it had because of Woods. Bryson said, “If Tiger doesn’t do what he does in the game of golf, the game of golf doesn’t grow the way it is.”

He stated that he owed the Tour and Woods a lot for his career, saying, “I have personally thanked, and I have before the PGA Tour for everything they’ve provided me and Tiger for what he’s done.” The Saudi-backed league, according to Bryson, would not be what it is today if the legend’s contribution to golf was not present.

Perhaps Norman was correct, and both LIV Golf and the PGA are required to propel one another forward. And maybe completion is necessary for golf’s growth. Do you share this same opinion? Let us know in the comments below.
