But recently, another player has entered the conversation on Twitter, and he is not in support of Justin Thomas’ words. Rather, he came forward with examples from the past to prove the golf star wrong. And it is none other than Bubba Watson, who used the PGA Tour of China as an example of a 54-hole event getting OWGR points.

According to Justin Thomas’ claims, all tours need to meet the criteria in order to qualify for the OWGR rankings. It was after a fan asked him if LIV Golf deserved OWGR points. Surprisingly, the PGA Tour loyalist said he had “no problem with them getting points”. However, he mentioned how there was a set “2-3 year process to earn” OWGR points for any tour.

But Bubba Watson came forward to explain how Thomas was wrong about his claims. And during the conversation, Watson even fired a few shots at his rival. “It’s easy to repeat stuff others say without knowing the facts,” Watson tweeted“Not all Tours are forced to wait for OWGR status. PGA Tour China was confirmed for points before playing its first event in 2014. OWGR has a long history of awarding points to 54-hole events too.”

Although Watson was right about his claims, fans saw him as a supporter of the breakaway league. Instead of showing support for his statements, they chose to roast him. Fans pointed out that Watson was trying to stand for the LIV Golf league to get OWGR points. However, Watson’s statement hasn’t been responded to by the PGA Tour professional yet.
