Professional golfers encounter various caddies throughout their careers. However, only a handful have that special bond with them. Woods and Steve Williams shared a similar one. The duo won 13 major championships as well as, 63 PGA Tour victories together. They also won a dozen other events all over the world. However, did you know that this strong caddie and the professional relationship started with a prank call back in 1999?

Probably one of the strongest partnerships in golf started in 1999. In February 1999, Steve was arriving in Doral for an event. He was the caddie of Raymond Floyd. While in the air in New Zealand, a news broke that Tiger had parted ways with his caddie, Michael Thomas Cowan, also known as, ” Fluff”. As a result, the search for a new caddie was on. Steve Williams speaks about how he felt that when Woods called him, it was a prank call.
Williams says, “The phone rings, and it’s pretty late, half-past nine. The gentleman on the other end of the phone says, ‘It’s Tiger Woods here. “And I had a mate who could take Tiger’s voice off to a tee, and I thought it was him, so I put the phone down.

Woods returns to PGA Tour at 2021 PNC Championship
Tiger made probably one of the greatest comebacks in the history of golf. The 82-time PGA Tour winner met with an accident at the start of last year in February. As a result, was out of golf for quite some time. Tiger played 2021 PNC Championship along with his son, Charlie Axel Woods. The duo ended the event with an overall score of 25-under-par, finishing runner-up in the event.
