Since its inception, LIV Golf has been continuously scrutinized for its controversial offerings. The newly founded Tour has managed to grasp all top talents from its rivals, thanks to the Saudi funding. Ahead of the Presidents Cup, the International team captain also shared his frustrated thoughts on the lucrative Tour.

The Presidents Cup is set to take place from September 19th to 25th. The event will take place at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event consists of a team of American golfers competing against a team of International golfers, except Europe.

Trevor Immelman will captain the International team, while the American team will be under the leadership of Davis Love III. Though divided by teams, both the captains share the same thoughts for their rival Tour. With only a month left for the tournament, the International team captain shared his disgruntled thoughts on the LIV Golf.

LIV Golf is a pain in the a** for Immelman

Since the commencement of LIV Golf, most of the top PGA stars have always been linked to the lucrative series. And the rumors have remained constant to this day. Despite participating in the Presidents Cup, some of the players from both teams have been in speculations to join the Greg-Norman-led Tour.

Being the leaders of their respective teams, Love III and Immelman have been the voice and representatives of their teams. So it is apparent that both the golfers have to answer the questions regarding LIV Golf more frequently.

While talking about the Saudi-backed Tour on the Subpar podcast, Trevor Immelman shared his honest thoughts on the Tour. He said, “It’s been a giant pain in my ass… It’s not great and it’s not been great for Davis. He’s got a couple of guys he’s concerned about as well as me. It puts us in a tough spot”.

Similar to his fellow opponent, Davis Love III also shared his disappointment with the growth of LIV Golf earlier this year. The American team captain also criticized the PGA Tour for its lack of regulations imposed on the defectors. He said, “Well, here’s the biggest lever; and it’s not the nice lever. But if a group of veterans and a group of top current players align with 150 guys on the Tour, and we say, “Guess what? We’re not playing,’ that solves it, right? If LIV guys play in the U.S. Open, we’re not playing. If they sue in court, and they win, well, we’re not playing”.

Though most players from both teams have rejected a move to LIV Golf, one may never know the next move of the defectors. However, it’s great to see the captains taking the initiative and voicing out their opinions against their rival Tour.
