Collins is a Senior Golf Analyst for ESPN, and his recent tweet implies that he knew Theegala’s talent all along.

His tweet said, “I’ve been saying it for a while now and will continue… start putting this guy is on posters and billboard ads for the PGA Tour cause he is gonna be a ROCK STAR for the tour.”

Despite being a rookie, Sahith was able to get the support of the golf world as soon as he stepped into the course. After he failed to qualify for the playoffs, Theegala felt emotional and had to be consoled by his parents to stop his crying.

The rookie golfer couldn’t win the title. However, he won the hearts of many with his golfing skills and his emotional side. He gained attraction from the audience from a single appearance. Hence, Collins’ comment on making Theegala the face of the PGA Tour would not be a bad idea.

What makes Michael Collins different from other golf experts?

Collins is a stand-up comedian turned caddie who has worked with ESPN since 2011. Apart from being their Senior Golf Analyst, he also co-hosts one of their popular podcast ‘Matty and the Caddie’ with Matt Barrie. He has also hosted his own show, ‘America’s Caddie,’ on ESPN+ since 2020. 

It is his mannerism that makes him different from other caddies. Since he had 20 years of stand-up comedy and 10 years of caddying experience, Collins talks about golf in a fun manner. Although he didn’t like golf in the past, Michael admitted that his golfing skills improved through the years. He said, “When I started caddying, it (handicap score) went up to about a 12, 13, and now I’d say I’m a solid 16.”
