Former POTUS Donald Trump, Who Owns the ‘Number One Course in Europe,’ Makes Huge Claim About Quashing a Setback

The golf world has been surprising fans every day for a long time now. New leagues and tours have taken over the game by acquiring players from all over the world. And there has been a huge involvement of famous personalities from outside the golf world in certain matters. Adding to these involvements, former POTUS Donald Trump recently made a huge claim regarding the Open Championship.

US Ex-President, Donald Trump, has been in support of the LIV Golf league ever since it came into existence. And he has extended this support by hosting several LIV events at his golf courses at numerous locations. His interest in the game of golf has spiked to another level ever since many great players joined the new league leaving the PGA Tour.

However, he recently made a few statements claiming that the R&A are keen to take The Open Championship back to his course in Turnberry. The last time it was hosted on the mentioned course was in 2009. And after the US Capitol riots took place in 2021, R&A removed Turnberry from the list of golf courses to host tournaments.

Nonetheless, Trump claimed that the organizers are willing to bring back The Open to his Turnberry course in Ayrshire. The former president made these statements at the LIV Golf Team Championship in Miami right after the Pro-Am. “It is rated the number one course in Europe…They want The Open to go back,” he said. “I can tell you they want to come back.” Keeping in mind the LIV Golf dispute with the PGA Tour, Trump said, “Everybody wants Turnberry but we are being a little bit careful with Turnberry. The Open wants to come back. I think this (LIV Golf dispute) will have to be sorted out first.”.

After many big names joined the LIV Golf league, Donald Trump issued a statement asking the remaining PGA Tour pros to join in. To some, it might even sound like a warning! “All of those golfers that remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all of its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER”, Trump said. He also said that the PGA Tour is making millions of dollars yearly. And that the players will receive nothing but a “thank you” from the tour.
