No golfer at LIV Golf has enjoyed the new Tour more than Dustin Johnson. He has been one of the best golfers on the Saudi-funded Tour, winning the inaugural season and bagging a stunning $30,758,600, from the six events. Although the former world no.1 has earned millions, he has paid the price for his decision to play LIV Golf.

Dustin Johnson lost his spot among the world’s top 40 golfers

It is not very common for Dustin Johnson to be so far behind his colleagues in the golf rankings. He hasn’t been placed below the 40th rank since 2010. LIV Golf has taken the initiative to make sure they receive the OWGR points system as soon as possible to ensure that they can attract the game’s biggest names.

Although LIV Golf has made efforts to earn themselves the right to fall into the criteria of OWGR points, it has failed as it follows the 54-hole format. And because of such an issue, players of the breakaway Tour have been the biggest victim.

Nonetheless, DJ has had one of his best seasons, with constant top-10 finishes in LIV Golf. It will be quite a shame to not watch him at any Major next year due to the OWGR ranking system. Hopefully, the governing body figures out a positive outcome for all, so no golfer, regardless of their Tour has to suffer.
