Nelly Korda is not a stranger to injuries. In 2023, the 25-year-old went through various obstacles, including physical and mental. The extent of the injury was known when she withdrew from the Mizhou America Open and missed the cut at the Cognizant Founders Cup.

Despite returning to the greens after a month of break, the younger Korda could not gain proper momentum on the greens and could not bag a single victory in the LPGA Tour’s 2023 season. But this time around, the 25-year-old is not taking any chances. She has taken a break, and the latest update gives hope about her presence at upcoming events.

No more itchy eyes for Nelly Korda

During her seven years on the LPGA Tour, Nelly Korda has experienced many highs and lows. One of her lowest moments came in the 2023 season when she lost the No. 1 rank on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Korda had a winless year on the LPGA Tour but did bag a win on the Ladies European Tour.

But that was last season; this year, the two-time major champion is already on the road to recovery from her recent health hiccup. Recently, Korda was diagnosed with an eye infection after her vacation in Colorado. The younger Korda sister took a break from the greens for her eye to recover, and now, as she heads back, Korda updated her fans with the latest health check.

Wearing the Nike ‘Freak’ hat with the swoosh jacket, Korda shared the recovery process of her infection. To relieve the worry of fans as the LPGA Tour’s 2024 is close to starting, Korda excitedly wrote on her Instagram story, “Freakyyyyyyy, Eye infection is slowly going away🙌🏻.” The infection did look like it was not there just a few days ago, and she was beaming with an infectious smile.

Fortunately, the LPGA Tour’s cover girl recovered just in time, as the 2024 season is just around the corner. It seems like luck was on Korda’s side this time, but that hasn’t always been the case, especially when looking back at the past two years.

The two years of Nelly Korda’s injuries

Nelly Korda had been marred by injuries for the past two years. The first of her serious woes came in 2022 when she had to go through intense treatment. In March 2022, Korda got the news that she had various blood clots near her heart and had swollen her arm as a result.

However, she went through rigorous surgery and was up for another challenge at the golf course only after a month. The 2022 comeback was a rather fruitful one, as Korda won the Pelican Women’s Championship and regained her Rolex world number one rank. Coming into the next year, Korda suffered another injury.

The 2023 season was not as giving as the previous one. After suffering from a lower back injury in May 2023 and coming back to the KPMG major, Korda could not repeat her success in 2021. The golfer then had ordinary performances one after another and sufficed herself with no wins. With the 2024 season starting in just a few days, will Nelly Korda break the winless cycle?
