The LIV Golf Tour has attracted various famous names in golf, and among them, only one name stands out, Phil Mickelson. He is among the professionals committed to the new tour from the beginning and has received severe backlash. Moreover, his fellow professional Fred Couples recently spoke a few bold words about the same.

Couples portrayed his resentment toward players who joined the Saudi-backed golf league on Wednesday. The American professional is the captain of a team in a unique match-play event that is taking place this week at Liberty National.

Fred Couples lashes out at Phil Mickelson

Couples said, “I think this is a family thing for me. I’m a little peon from Seattle, but I know where the money’s coming from, and I think my family would disown me if I went. These guys — you’ve seen their interviews, right? Have you ever seen Phil look so stupid in his life? They know it’s a joke.”

He added. “I heard of all people Perez was a little confrontational. He’s a grain of sand in this Tour. He should be soft and kind, but he’s, like, raising his voice. I’m done with it.” They’re all saying they want to change golf, they’re doing it for the better of golf.”

The 52-year-old did not play well at the third major championship event of the year. His golf game was off and Mickelson could not hit good shots and hole clutch putts. He ended the tournament with an overall score of 11-over-par. As a result, the World Golf Hall of Fame member missed the cut by a whopping eight strokes.
