However, along with being super successful, the retired golfer is also very humble at heart. And she once said a few kind words about American professional golfer Nelly Korda in 2021.

The world of golf has seen many talented players come and go after leaving their mark on the sport. And one of these golf legends who really left a significant impact on the sport before retiring is Annika Sorenstam. The golf professional retired back in 2008 but is still considered one of the best women players ever seen on the field. However, there was a time when she extended her support to Nelly Korda and her future in the game.

Sorenstam has not only been a super successful athlete herself but is also working towards helping more such capable women achieve their goals in the sport. Her non-profit Annika Foundation focuses on developing young golfers in junior golf. But she also has been very vocal with her remarks about the growing players in professional golf. She once spoke about how world no. 1 Nelly Korda would have an amazing career ahead and claimed that the golfer’s 2021 campaign could be “just the beginning” for her.

“Nelly really did have a breakout year, and yet it was not a surprise,” Sorenstam said. “Most people, I think, were wondering when it was going to happen because it’s easy to get impressed by Nelly.”

Sorenstam also described how perfect Korda was to be in the position she was in. She said Korda was a tall athlete with a ‘powerful’ swing.

Sorenstam also talked about how confident Korda is, and how much she trusts her own abilities. Adding to her remarks about the golfer, Sorenstam also claimed that Korda was one of the best people to be an ambassador for women’s golf. “I’m a big fan of Nelly,” she said. She added that the world would witness a lot of Nelly Korda in the future. And as she said, Korda has been setting new records now and then.
