He revealed that the season-ending tournament at the DP Tour last week was “one of the best.” He also claimed there was “magic” at St. Andrews this year, home to the Open Championship.
But what was Brown’s favorite moment of the season? It was the victory of fellow Brit Matt Fitzpatrick at the year’s U.S. Open. Brown claimed the picture of Rory McIlroy, a favorite for the event, congratulating Fitzpatrick was his moment of the year.

The tweet was well-received among the golf community, with numerous fans describing it as their own favorite moments. Many were quick to jump on golf legend Tiger Woods‘ walk at the bridge at the Open Championship. It eventually turned out to be his final appearance since.

How did Matt Fitzpatrick defeat McIlroy and others at the 2022 U.S. Open?
The Sheffield-born Fitzpatrick was winless in major championships before the tournament at the Country Club in Massachusetts. However, he found form at the right moment, securing a lead at the onset of the final day’s play.

He had to fret off challenges from other competitors though, most notably from current World No.1, Rory McIlroy. The 33-year-old shot one-under par in the final round to keep the pressure on Fitzpatrick.

However, under immense pressure, the English golfer holed out for a 6-under par for the event to claim his first-ever major championship. In a moment of great sportsmanship, McIlroy hugged and congratulated Fitzpatrick after the latter’s win, which won the hearts of golf fans across the world.
