Scottie Scheffler’s putting woes are not leaving the pro alone! Although the world number one is leading in Tee-to-green, off-the-tee, and Approach on the PGA Tour, it is his putting that lets him down every time. Scheffler is 66th on the SG: Putting out of 70 players.

Throughout his career, he had massive issues with his putting. However, it was said last year that his putting difficulties had been resolved. But playing at the Riviera Country Club, a different story has been painted through his putter. Is Scheffler still struggling with his shot?

Before the patriotic battle at Marco Simone, Italy, in 2023, Scottie Scheffler made sure to reach the place prepared for any challenge, aka his putting. The 1x major champion appointed the renowned putting coach Phil Kenyon to solve his problem. The issue at hand seemed to be going away as Scheffler solved the problem he faced.

Per NBC, Scheffler said his hands were “getting lower and lower,” and the problem was “getting worse and worse.” At first, Scheffler “couldn’t figure it out,” which was preventing him from making birdie putts. However, after learning with Kenyon and winning the Hero World Challenge, Scheffler stated, “I don’t see [putting] being a problem moving forward,” which hasn’t been the case.

A recent clip shared by Flushing It Golf on X highlights that the 6-time PGA Tour winner is struggling with putting once again. The snippet from the second round at Genesis Invitational shows Scottie Scheffler making a double bogey on par 4 15th from around 3 feet. A similar incident had occurred in the opening round when Scheffler missed 6 birdie chances and was on the verge of breaking his putter but ended up frustratingly throwing his ball near the woods.

Initially, the issue at large did not seem to faze Scheffler mentally. Yet, his outrages show that the world number 1 is getting aggravated with many missed birdie chances, which stop him from leading the field even if he skillfully defeats the fairways and around the greens. But Scheffler is advancing as his last year’s putting rank has dropped, and he is not leaving any stone turned!

Scheffler’s dire attempts to fix his putting

After the disappointing series of missed birdies and releasing his anger on the Titleist Pro V1 ball and his putter, Scottie Scheffler decided not to leave the greens until dusk. Kenyon had accompanied the Dallas resident at Riviera and seemed to be working more on his putting.

Although he is 66th at Genesis Invitational, last season, he was 162nd in SG, putting on the rankings which had dropped to 107th this time around. Moreover, from losing 0.301 strokes per round, it has come down to 0.134 strokes per round. The world number one is certainly making some progress, and after the dark clouds of putting woes are gone, the sun will definitely shine on greens!
