The brand was a sponsor of Arnold, and they joined hands with former no.1 in 2014. However, the deal raised many eyebrows, and Woods found him surrounded by many questions. But why was this deal of such importance to the golf world?
Who was the new sponsor of Tiger Woods in 2014?
The famous sports nutrition company, MusclePharm, solidified the deal with Tiger Woods in 2014. The former no.1 was emerging as a fitness guru, and with his physique and intense routine, he was the right pick. The pro golfer lost important deals with AT&T and Buick after his alleged scandals in 2009. However, Upper Deck, Nike Golf, NetJets, TLC Laser Eye Centers, and Golf Digest stayed by his side, and MP was the new addition.
The sports nutrition brand was worth $1 billion back then, and the millionaire golfer was looking for an edge. The collaboration was the perfect result of the requirements of Woods. “Our goal is to take the stigma out of supplements,” said Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent. Even though the huge deal benefited both parties, it raised questions about the supplements and their validity. People wondered whether they were effective. On top of that, during 2014, random drug testing was an essential routine of golf and other sports. However, deals made people wonder if it was the right decision for Woods to endorse a supplement brand in such crucial times of drug abuse.

One of the essential endorsers of the brand was Arnold Schwarzenegger. But Woods bagged it, and he was in the limelight. Along with that, the brand was also the official supplement provider of UFC and USA Wrestling. After the deal, Woods was seen with an MP logo on his bag. They were planning a full line of products under the legend’s name.
Is Woods still involved with MusclePharm?
Woods’ endorsement deal with supplement company MusclePharm was terminated in 2016. The company paid $2.5 million to the golfer to close the deal. The stocks of MusclePharm went up to $14 in 2014 post their partnership with Woods.
