The golf world got divided into two parts when USGA and R&A proposed the golf ball back rule. Golfing greats like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy supported it. But others including former professional golfer, Paige Spiranac, and PGA Tour pro, Justin Thomas, opposed it firmly. However, in the middle of the chaos caused in the golf world, a new hilarious video digging at the USGA has gone viral. And the governing body has given the perfect reply to it. Undoubtedly, the fans were also part of it.

A beetle questions the ruling of USGA!

A video of a beetle pushing the golf ball on the greens is going viral. Caddie Network took that video and tagged USGA, asking, “What’s the ruling here,” followed by a laughing emoji. The golf governing body shared the video on their Instagram and appreciated beetle, “Nice try, beetle 😂” They further answered the ruling question and said, “Here’s the ruling: This is a ball moved by “outside influence” under Rule 9.6. Just replace the ball on its original spot. No penalty.” The digging at the line was turned around in a sporting way.

The golf fans also took turns in joining the fun surrounding the video. They commented their points of view and said, “As long as you didn’t bribe the beetle it’s fair game,” and “Play it where it lays.” Some comments were hilarious, and also a dig at the PXG golf ball. A fan said, “I’m not replacing that ball lmao.” However, other fans took a dig at the brand and said, “The real penalty is the PXG ball,” followed by, “How about the beetle properly associating the PXG logo with a piece of dung? Spot on beetle!”

Nonetheless, the highlight of the comment section was, “It was probably short of the green because of your rolled back ball. #stoptherollback,” and “Stop trying to change the golf ball. You’re ruining the sport.” It proved the fans are still not on board with the new proposed ruling. But that was not it. The little beetle put efforts there and must be appreciated. The fans took note of it. “That beetle is doing God’s work. Play it as it lies after he has pushed it far enough😂😂😂” “Common beetle W.”

The former number one golfer, Rory McIlroy, gave the heads up about the changes way before they happened. He boldly sided with the governing bodies and Woods and supported it. However, he also gave an ultimatum to the PGA Tour, if they think otherwise about the golf ball back rule.

According to OutKick, he said, “Honestly, for me, the major championships are the biggest deal, so if the PGA Tour doesn’t implement it, I might still play the Model Local Rule ball, because I know that that’ll give me the best chance and the best preparation leading into the major championships.” There is still a lot of resentment regarding the rule. Therefore, no one can say what will happen next.
