Golf can sometimes be agonizing for the professionals competing on the PGA Tour, especially putting. It makes the sport even more challenging and occasionally cruel for the players. The challenging aspect of golf was on display in the fourth round of last week’s Tour event, Charles Schwab Challenge, at the challenging Colonial Country Club.

Harold Varner III was cruising nicely with a share of the lead during the final round on Sunday. The American professional had the share of the lead until the end of the 11th hole with Scottie Scheffler and his playing partner Scott Stallings.
But then the par 4, 12th hole started his treacherous stretch. Moreover, Varner hit a good drive in the middle of the fairway on the 12th hole. He hit a good wedge shot, but it ended up in the greenside bunker.

The 31-year-old professional hit a good bunker shot and had 19 feet left for his par. However, he hit his first putt short, then the next one went racing by the cup, again he hit it past the cup. As a result, Harold finally made a triple-bogey on the hole and fell off the lead. His four-putt on the hole proved that golf could sometimes be cruel to professionals.

However, this did not end his misery; he made a double bogey on the 13th hole and another triple bogey on par 4, the 14th hole. The PGA Tour professional ended the Charles Schwab Challenge with an overall score of even-par and finished in tied 27th position on the leaderboard after the final round ended at the demanding golf course.
The golf world reacts to a cruel four-putt by Harold Varner III
As soon as the video broke out on the internet, the golf Twitter went absurd. PGA Tour’s official Twitter account uploaded the video about the same, and numerous fans from all parts of the globe started to react to the dismal video of Varner.
The majority of the reactions blamed Scott, Harlod’s playing partner, for the bad putting as he took time to get relief from the TV tower when he hit his second shot over the green on the 12th hole and found his four-putt relatable. At the same time, other fans supported the American player and reacted by saying that he would break through on the Tour.
Can’t miss those putts but Stallings/the 40 minute wait deserves some blame. That’s ridiculous

Painful. Hell, this is what amateurs like I am do. I remember 4 putting only once, but I’m not playing with millions watching me. I love the guy. He WILL win on the tour.
