Gary Player is one of the best golfers of all time. However, a different part of the world knows him for other reasons. From building schools to the prevention of AIDS, the golfer has campaigned for a lot of causes. At the age of 86, he is still working towards the betterment of the world.

“I’m such an admirer of Sadhguru,” Player said about the Indian Yoga guru. The golfer talked highly of Sadhguru, who has dedicated his life to the well-being of humanity, in his Instagram post. He used the post to show his support towards Sadhguru’s new campaign, ‘Save the Soil.’

“I’ve played golf with him on a few occasions,” the golfer added. “I just like him to know how much I admire what he’s doing.” He explained that Sadhguru is currently conducting a campaign by cycling 30,000 km to raise awareness on a serious matter. 

As the golfer continued, he explained how soil is getting extinct day by day. He worried that the soil in the world would vanish one day, along with rivers and oceans. He kept praising Sadhguru for whatever he had been doing to protect mother earth.

Gary Player – Philanthropic activities

The South African golfer has won more than 150 championships worldwide, including 9 majors. Nicknamed ‘Black Knight’, Player has been considered one of the best of all time. However, his identity is more than that.

Since its inception in 1983, the Gary Player Foundation has raised $60 million to support children with fewer to no privileges. Blair Atholl School, Christel House, and other elementary schools in South Africa have helped provide education for hundreds of children.

Furthermore, the Foundation also has taken care of the meals, medical care, and transport services. Player has also partnered with an NGO, which helps raise awareness of AIDS in China. The NGO is the beneficiary of the Gary Player Invitational of China. Hence, all the money raised through the tournament will go to them. 

Black Knight was an incredible golfer in his time, with record-breaking success. However, he wants to leave his legacy behind as not just a good golfer but a good human being.
