Winning a major championship is a dream that every athlete wishes to give life to. Tennis and golf, both include 4 major grand slams and 4 major championships in a calendar year, respectively. In golf, it is the Open, Masters, US Open, and the PGA Championship. The grand slams in tennis are the Australian Open, US Open, French Open, and the world-famous Wimbledon Championship.

In the 2021 men’s major championships; men’s Open champion – Collin Morikawa took home prize money of $1.935 million, the PGA Champion- Phil Mickelson won $1. 82 million, US Open champion- Jon Rahm won a whopping $2.25 million, and the masters- Hideki Matsuyama won $2 million.

However, in the 2021 men’s grand slam season, tennis players also won huge money.

As the Australian Open winner, Novak Djokovic won $2,138,125, as well as $1,694,710 as the French Open winner. The US Open champion took home $2,500,000, while the Wimbledon champion won $2,399,520.

However, the difference in pay is huge in golf. In the 2021 women’s major season, the Open champion won $675,000, the US Open champion won prize money of $1 million, the PGA Championship winner won $645,000, ANA Inspiration winner won $465,000 and the Evian Championship winner took home $650,000. It’s very clear that only one major championship in the women’s circuit had prize money worth $1 million.
