What is a golf game without Max Homa throwing at least one angry outburst? The golf ace had been hot on the comeback trail during the PGA Championship, but his final round progress was halted after a double-bogey on the third hole. Homa started the day at even par, with hopes of a strong finish to an otherwise solid week’s work.
However, in a moment of frustration, Homa threw his club across the fairway after screwing up a shot. This outburst came as his comeback chances began to slip away. Despite starting the day with the potential to catch overnight leader Scottie Scheffler at -11, Homa’s chances dwindled as the round progressed, and fans did not like the way he handled the situation.
Well, this isn’t the first time Homa has had an emotional outburst at a major this year. During the Masters, the golf star was involved in an unfortunate incident on day one when his chipped shot hit a course marshal in the back. Homa had found the rough from his tee shot on the eighth hole and was attempting to correct his mistake. However, his shot took an unexpected bounce and struck the marshal slap-bang in the middle of his back.

As picked up by the television cameras, Homa could be heard saying, “Come on dude!” in frustration. The incident occurred during Homa’s first-round outing, which left him two over and down in joint 51st. The course marshal, who was wearing the iconic Masters white boilersuit, was reportedly signaling to the group in the fairway when the green was clear.

Homa wasn’t aiming for the green and accidentally hit the marshal, leading to his exasperated reaction. But that is not the case this time around, and fans are taking to social media to express their feelings on the matter.

Netizens find the whole situation ‘very unfortunate’ for Max Homa
Starting off strong with what one fan said, “Very unfortunate for @TheGolfer1324 we have max Homa throwing his club early, getting double bogeys. I’m sure he had fun being in contention for the short time he was. Sorry bud”, while the other wrote, “Max Homa crashout in full effect.” Well, that is not the only time a club was tossed at the 2025 PGA Championship, but the reason was far from similar to why Homa did it.
In contrast, Si Woo Kim celebrated a remarkable hole-in-one on the 6th hole, launching his fairway wood into the air after the ball dropped into the cup from 252 yards, the longest ace recorded in major championship history. This incredible shot moved Kim to 6-under on the day and 5-under overall, and he went on to birdie the next hole, finishing with a 7-under 64. Kim now sits tied for second, just two shots behind Jhonattan Vegas.
But that is not where it ends, as one decided to take a brutal jab at the golfer and write, “Annnnnd just like that, we have angry Max Homa once again”, while they wrote, “Kick him off the tour Doug!” Well, fans asking the authority to ‘kick’ a golfer out of the game because of an emotional outburst is a tale as old as time. Earlier this year at the second round of Valspar, Sahith Theegala lost his cool after hitting a wayward tee shot on the par-three fourth hole, launching his club across the tee box in frustration.

Despite his anger, Theegala managed to compose himself enough to get up and down for par, making a 13-foot putt. However, his outburst sparked debate among golf fans, with some calling for the PGA Tour to take disciplinary action, including fines or suspension, citing a lack of emotional control expected from professional golfers.
One fan said something that many might agree with as they wrote, “Clown.” Well, that was what fans thought, but what are your thoughts on the matter? Let us know in the comment section below!
