The LIV Golf and the PGA Tour controversy are taking some new turns every day. People criticize players for choosing LIV Golf for more money and leaving the PGA Tour behind. Butch Harmon, the instructor of Phil Mickelson, spoke up about the controversy in a new light.

Butch Harmon Supports Phil Mickelson

Mickelson’s instructor, Harmon, believes people should stop pointing fingers at players who chose LIV Golf. The play is about the money and if he was a player, he would have taken up the offer. He demands that Phil Mickelson should not be blamed for his choice. 

During the podcast, he appreciated Mickelson and said, “Well, Phil’s very honest. I mean, he’s got no filter. It’s one of the things I admire about him, one of the reasons we were friends, because I got a lot of that in myself, too.… What we think is what we say. And I think, in all honesty, I’m going to give Phil some credit.”

He added, “People didn’t like it, but a lot of the things he said about the Tour I think were true. And I think the Tour is now seeing that and they’re trying to change a lot of that stuff. So you got to hand it to Phil for that. He has taken a tremendous amount of criticism for it.”

Harmon’s views on LIV Golf

Butch went straight and honest during the podcast. He said he doesn’t support or oppose LIV Golf, but he doesn’t like how people are reacting to its existence. He believes ‌people dislike LIV Golf because Saudi Arabia funded it. According to him, this shouldn’t be the ground of hate, as the government and big companies do business with Saudi.

According to him, picking on golfers who choose LIV Golf is wrong. No one picks on big companies doing business, then why golfers? He appreciated golfers and shared his views. According to him, golf is the most underpaid sport and players have the right to be rewarded for their talent. So is they choose LIV Golf, there is nothing wrong about that.
