Meanwhile, John got the nickname ‘Long John’ for his incredible ability to hit long shots. There was no one close to him during his heyday. Moreover, he could bomb a 300-yard drive consistently with little stress. Daly once made an unusual revelation and said if the PGA Tour had allowed him to do one thing, he would have won more events.

John Daly believes he played his best golf while drunk

John Daly is well-known for making absurd statements. He recently revealed that he would have won more events on the PGA Tour if they had authorized him to play drunk and barefoot. “If the PGA Tour let me play drunk, I’d win a lot more tournaments. And barefooted. If I could play the tour barefooted, that’d be nice,” said Daly.

Even though this statement looks absurd, it is who John Daly is. He never shied away from speaking his heart out. Therefore, his image is clear in every golfer’s and fan’s mind.

John Daly once also revealed his insane diet and lifestyle. ‘Long John’ said he used to drink around 15 diet cokes a day. Daly also said he mostly ate junk food. This amused fans because no other athlete has a lifestyle like him. But the adverse effects of this lifestyle began as John was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Thankfully, it did not get complicated and was treatable.

His warmup routine since day one of his golfing career has been playing a few one-handed chip shots. He sometimes even smoked before stepping on the first tee. Hence, John believes that if they allowed him to play drunk and barefoot, he would have won a lot more tournaments.
