Greg Norman is one of the most prominent names in the golfing world. He was world no.1 for quite a while in the 1980s and 1990s. Additionally, Norman has won 20 PGA Tour events and two major championships in his career as a pro golfer. For his outstanding achievements and dedication to the game, Norman was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001. 

However, Norman’s rebellious attitude towards PGA Tour has brought him criticism throughout the world. The Australian decided to start a world golf league in the 90s, which, unfortunately, did not go well. Currently, he is trying to build a rival league with the help of the Saudis.

After a huge setback in the last couple of weeks for Greg Norman’s Saudi-backed league, things are not going in his way. The majority of the alleged players who were supposed to compete in the rival league have backed off. They have clarified that they want to continue competing on the PGA Tour.

Hence, the road going ahead is tough for Norman. But he has already made it clear that he is not going to back off. He shared an inspiring quote from Winston Churchill, “Never give in – Never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” 

Meanwhile, Greg says that the PGA Tour isn’t treating its players well, and the monopoly of the tour needs to end. He even thinks of growing the game around the world. Therefore, he has decided to start a rival league with the help of the Saudis. 

Notably, the PGA Tour has already clarified that any player joining this league will face a lifetime ban. So it will be interesting to see how things proceed from here and what will be Norman’s next move.
