Rory McIlroy is not one to mince words when it comes to someone who has already taken a dig at him. Even though lately his stance has softened towards LIV Golf and its players, it is not for everyone, including Sergio Garcia. Rory McIlroy has taken a swipe at the LIV golfer and called him out of touch with the reality of golf.

A few days ago, Garcia criticized McIlroy for not supporting them, saying, “I don’t think we want to be important for one month. We all deserve more than that,” implying perhaps that McIlroy thought LIV players only cared about the majors and busting open the myth that that was not true. The 24x PGA Tour winner didn’t take time and responded to him.

In response, world no. 2 recently did not hold back on his comment, which takes a nasty jab at the Spiranad. “Sergio feels he deserves a lot of things,” he stated, making it clear that he did not care about what the LIV star had to say and believed that they may never be on the same page.

“I think right now it’s just very, very hard to align everyone’s interests in the game,” said the Northern Irishman. The golfer hinted that with the turmoil that the golf world is in right now with the delayed merger and important people such as Martin Slumbers and Keith Pelley stepping down, it is very hard to come up with a solution that would align everyone’s well-being in the sport.
