This past week has seen a lot transpire in the world. The war between Israel and Palestine has had the entire world hooked. Not just countries, sports bodies have also taken sides, including the all-important PGA Tour.    

And now the famous American body is under fire for a post they have shared on social media. Fans accuse PGA of hypocrisy and duality in light of the merger with LIV Golf backed by the Saudis earlier this year.

PGA Tour receives massive backlash after posting about the Israel-Palestine conflict

This isn’t the first time the PGA Tour has stirred controversy in the golf world. The Tour has been under public scrutiny because of its merger with LIV Golf in June.

On Tuesday, in the midst of the ongoing Israeli-Palestine ethnic conflict, PGA Tour took to Instagram to share its take on the matter. The post lacked a caption. On the black background, there was a block of text in white. 

The text read: “The PGA Tour is horrified and heartbroken by the weekend’s indefensible terror attacks in Israel, and condemn violence in all capacities. We are praying for those wounded to recover, for the communities impacted by this devastation to be rebuilt, and for those mourning loved ones to head.”

Now, questions about the PGA Tour’s clashing morals are arising considering the monetarily beneficial merger between the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. The Saudis’ stance in the long-standing conflict is well known.

After seeing the post, fans could not hold themselves back from commenting and most of them didn’t pull their punches.

“Political Golf Association” for PGA!

Some fans thought that the current issue between the two conflicting entities was not PGA Tour’s business to be a part of. A fan, confused because of the political nature of the post, wrote, “It’s possible for not every entity to comment on this.”

Another user took a dig at the PGA Tour. It’s clear they have the LIV Golf connection in mind. “yeah this is definitely a topic the PGA has no right to speak on….” 

Another netizen couldn’t hide their sarcasm. “oh thanks i was really wondering what PGA’s take was on this.” A user reworded the PGA in a savage attempt. “Thanks for that Political Golf Association. Alice Cooper For President! 🇺🇸”

Another user continued the assault on the PGA Tour. “Being bought by the Saudi still?” One netizen wants the Tour only to think about golf. “Stay out of politics and stick to golf.”  One more savage comment came the Tour’s way. “Oh good, I couldn’t keep watching golf until you announced this.”
