Golf fans were in for a disappointing surprise this week as Jordan Spieth announced his withdrawal from the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament. The announcement comes just days after he missed the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship.

It seems, however, that Spieth’s absence will also affect another PGA Tour pro. On Tuesday, golf pro Michael Kim took the 3-time Major winner’s slot at the upcoming event. And soon after, he took to Twitter to relay his worries about it!

The 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson tournament will kick off on May 11 at the TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and more will be headlining the event. Reigning champion K.H. Lee is also set to return to defend his title.

One big name who will be missing from action is none other than Jordan Spieth. He had earlier taken to Twitter to update fans about a wrist injury that had rendered him incapable of playing at the event. The news didn’t just disappoint his supporters;it has also put remarkable pressure on golfer Michael Kim.

Jordan Spieth withdraws from AT&T Byron Nelson after a left wrist injury

Spieth’s announcement on Monday delivered a huge blow to his fans in Texas. The golfer, who grew up in Dallas and is an alum of the University of Texas, is currently nursing a left wrist injury. He suffered the setback at last week’s Wells Fargo Championship, where he also failed to make the cut.

In his statement, the World No. 10 said, “The AT&T Byron Nelson means the absolute world to me and I’m disappointed to miss it this week. Playing in front of family and friends in Dallas is one of the highlights of my year, and the tournament staff and volunteers are second to none. I look forward to being back next year and many years after.” His injury has also raised questions about whether he will be playing at the fast-approaching PGA Championship. Spieth is now taking some time away from golf to recover and bounce back into action.
