The PGA pro, Jordan Spieth, and his wife, Annie, welcomed their first son, Sammy, last fall. However, he reached the peak of fatherhood when his new announcement of travel plans was revealed. In his pre-tournament news conference, Spieth, who shot a six-under 64 in the Sony Open opening round, said he would live in an RV this PGA Tour season. His brand-new travel setup is making headlines.

The Bahamas, Maui, and now Oahu have been the locations of the Texan’s previous three competitive outings, but after the Hawaii swing is through, he’ll be in full RV mode. Spieth first revealed his new transit strategy when a reporter enquired about his housing arrangements for the WM Phoenix Open week. There are few options because the tournament is during the same weekend and in the same city as the Super Bowl.

What is the reason behind the RV plan of Jordan Spieth?

Spieth explained his new travel plans with the RV and said, “We’re doing the RV life.” The golfer told the reporters that he bought a bus last fall, and from now onwards, he will spend weeks on the bus. He was excited about it and acknowledged that he was now a father, so such a decision was taken. “Yeah, bought a bus last fall, so we’ll be in that every week. Someone wants me to honk; I’ll honk.” The 29-year-old golfer told the reporters after his opening round on Thursday.

The golfer said, “Just glamping, you know. Slumming it,” of life on the road. The pro golfer looks forward to the fun he’ll have while his house is on the road with his wife and son. He even got the exact mattress as his home for the RV, so they all could sleep comfortably. “Should be a lot of fun. The reason was kind of to have a home on the road. Got the same mattress I have at home,” said Spieth.

He also explained the real reason for the plan: his son and his stuff. They will carry all their stuff Sammy on the bus, so they don’t have to pack again and again every time he travels. He said, “we’ll leave a lot of Sammy’s stuff on the bus, therefore won’t have to pack a whole lot and can ride on it a lot in between events given the way the west coast swing—and especially the Florida swing.”

Has Spieth ever experienced an RV life?

The major championship winner and his family first tested the RV life during the PGA Championship in 2020. However, when his son was born, he halted that life. But this fall, at the CJ Cup in South Carolina, he made his home base plans for the 2022-23 season.

The Masters champion won’t be handling wheels. Instead, he will have an experienced driver taking care of it. However, he is excited to bring his RV for a spin and looks forward to testing the RV horn.
