Fitzpatrick was on the 15th hole when he hit the shot and did not even realize it for a good couple of seconds. It was the fans’ roar and cheers that laid it out for him that he has made history. His shot marked the 51st hole-in-one in the history of the US Open, but it was even more special in light of the fact that it came from the defending champion.

The elating news was shared by the USGA on their official Twitter account. It was indeed a magical moment for everyone to witness. This was not the first time in the 123rd US Open that people were witnessing a record-making moment. On the first day of the tournament, Rickie Fowler also made a new record at US Open. He recorded the lowest-ever opening-day score of 8-under-par 62.

The ace shot of the one-time major champion was definitely historic, but it wasn’t the first at this year’s US Open.

Other ace shots that have been hit in the 123rd US Open

The first hole-in-one of the 2023 US Open was shot on the first day of the tournament itself, within a few hours of its inception. The French golfer, Matthieu Pavon, hit a brilliant shot on the 15th hole, and the ball reached 15 feet beyond the pin, but just then, it rolled back into the pin.
