Lydia Ko had a great end to 2022, with her CME win, she became women’s world No.1 and also got to marry the love of her life, Jun Chung. However, her amazing performance put her at the center of attention at the 2023 Honda LPGA Thailand. Ko finished at T6 and wasn’t satisfied with her performance.

Who is the biggest influence in the life of Lydia Ko ?
The LPGA Tour legend has experienced many wins and losses throughout her career. However, through it all, she feels it’s important to have someone who just treats her as a normal person and not a golfer at the end of the day. “To know that there’s somebody at the end of my round, no matter what I shoot, to always support me and just think of me. Someone, who’s taken me who I am as a person.”
For Lydia that special someone has been her husband. She feels that since he has been a part of her life, she has been able to enjoy the sport more. “My husband has been, I think, one of the biggest influences in my life. And after meeting him I was able to enjoy golf more.”

Moreover, the former women’s world No.1 is grateful that he is so supportive of her career. “He changed my life and I am very grateful for his support.”

After an unsatisfactory performance at the 2023 Honda LPGA Thailand, Lydia took to Instagram to express how much he misses her husband. This is evidence of the close bond of love and respect the golfer shares with her husband.
Lydia Ko’s sweet love story
The 2-time major winner disclosed in a post-victory press conference at the CME Group Tour Championship that she first crossed paths with her husband in 2021. Speculations are that the pair had been romantically involved for two years before tying the knot.

What’s particularly intriguing is that Ko was the one who popped the question in a golf-themed proposal, subverting the traditional gender roles in marriage proposals. However, Chung had a surprise of his own up his sleeve during their engagement photoshoot, when he proposed to Ko.
