Charles Barkley is no longer friends with Tiger Woods

Barkley was once good friends with golf legend Tiger Woods. The friendship went strong for over 15 years. However, in 2015, Barkley disclosed that he had ended all ties with the legend. The two used to speak on the phone as well as hang out at times. They also had discussions about golf and other personal things.

But during a radio show, Barkley mentioned that the closeness between him and Woods was not the same anymore. He explicitly said that it was Woods who cut him out of his life towards the end of 2009. It happened after Woods’ controversy, which later led to his divorce.

“We’re not friends anymore,” said Barkley. He also mentioned that even before the controversy that took Woods away from the world for some time, he was not very close to Barkley. He said that he and Woods were not as close as other people were with their friends.

Barkley explained the reason behind his distance from Woods.

Barkley said, “I think that when you’re as great as he has been—and this probably is a negative at some point—like he was so consumed with being the greatest golfer ever, he wasn’t a very sociable guy,” He added, “Even when he was a friend of mine, he wasn’t a very sociable guy.” He just had a one-track mind. “

At the time of the show, it had been over five years since the former basketball player had talked to the golf legend. Maybe that is the reason Barkley didn’t seem much affected by losing a once-dear friend like Woods. But it is bizarre to think that the two broke their friendship for such an unusual reason. It shows what has mattered the most to Woods since the beginning, and it hasn’t changed, which is his game on the course.
