The Crushers GC captain said if you are a junior golfer, the key is to “get to the front tees.” Only then you should aim for shooting under the 60s. Once you are in the right gear, keep hitting the gas. Get into “the F-U Mentality,” in DeChambeau’s words.

Once you get in the groove, the catch is to keep the momentum going. “If you are consistently able to do that every round you play,” said DeChambeau, “let’s keep going. Pedal to the metal.”

Bryson DeChambeau shot 58 to win his first LIV Golf title at this year’s Greenbrier event. That’s a LIV Golf record. Incidentally, in the PGA Tour also, 58 is the lowest score anyone ever reached. Jim Furyk set that record in the 2016 Travelers Championship. 

Nevertheless, shooting under 60 is a rather tough nut to crack for scratch golfers. To put this into perspective, the No.1 golfer in the American Junior Golf Association, has the best score of 65 in the last nine tournaments. No wonder fans were just shocked that DeChambeau so “casually” mentioned scoring under 60s.

Cracking a joke at the rather ‘ridiculous’ advice, one user wrote, “I couldn’t shoot under 60 if I started on the greens.” For another user, and many of us, hitting straight is the real deal. “Doesn’t matter which Tees I hit from, how do I hit it straight consistently?” The case is, obviously, different for the LIV Golf Pro.

For someone who has scored 58, shooting under 60 might appear like an achievable target. Commenting on that, one user wrote, “Bro said try and shoot under 60 so casually.” Another fan too couldn’t believe the 30-year-old was expecting aspiring golfers to shoot under 60s and that too consistently. “Does he know he said 60?,” one Instagram user was still in shock. 

They say, shoot for the stars if you want to reach the moon. That seemed to be Bryson DeChambeau’s advice. But fans think it’s a rather lofty target to aim for.
