The interviewer asked Tiger’s father if the golfer ever had a rebellious phase, like most kids usually do during their teenage stage. “No, he did not”, replied Earl. He then went on to share the similarities between himself and his 15-time Major winner son.
Tiger’s father said, “He went through the same period his father did—he thought he knew it all, just like I thought I did”. Undoubtedly, Tiger was no usual kid. He was racking trophy after trophy at the US Junior Amateur Golf Championships, making him much more bold and confident with his decisions.

Earl further talked about his own childhood where he had to take all the decisions by himself. “I was one of those typical 21-year-olds who thought he knew everything. I made every decision in my life from age 13”, he said. Earl Woods lost both of his parents by the age of 11.
Fortunately for Tiger, he had both of his parents side by side while growing up. The 47-year-old now a father himself, continues to follow the footsteps of Earl while parenting his two children, Sam and Charlie. Perhaps, when it comes to his personal life, Earl Woods has always been Tiger’s biggest role model.
