What’s in Japan’s only Masters Champion’s bag?

The ZOZO Championship started on 18th October at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club. As of round two, Japan’s favorite golfer, Matsuyama stands tied at 61 with Micheal Kim. So what’s the Driver Hideki using to hit the fairways?

For Driver, Hideki uses Srixon ZX5 MKII (9.5 degrees) with his usual shaft Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 8TX. Previously, he was the prototype version of the same driver which has been released to the public. The driver is forgiving in the sense that it gives the ball a high spin and has an adjustable hosel with 12 positions. It retails for $499 and offers 9.5° and 10.5° options.

As for Fairway Woods, Hideki uses TaylorMade’s SIM 2 with Graphite Design Tour AD DI 9 TX shaft. The new version of the SIM series has redistributed weight for the high launch of the ball. Selling at $349.99, the woods promise to meet higher distances with accuracy on the course.

Wedges, Putter, and more

For wedges, Matsuyama uses Cleveland RTX 4 Forged Prototype (52-10, 56-8, 60-08). He tweaks between 52, 56, and 60 degrees, however, mostly sticks with a 52-degree sole. It has a compact shape and sharper edge. The Cleveland wedges are top choices for PGA Tour pros and Hideki is one of them.

For the putter, his choice is the Scotty Cameron Prototype with its grip. The putter has a rare Acushnet stamp and the exceptionally milled design helps to putt it easily. Furthermore, Hideki uses Srixon Z-Star XV giving maximum speed and with a soft core providing better spin.
