It is common knowledge among golf fans about how big of a golf nerd Tiger Woods is. However, thanks to his golf knowledge, Tiger has gone on to win 15 Major titles throughout his career. Recently, his good friend and fellow PGA Tour star, Jason Day, revealed his text messages with Woods, which further reiterated the fact of Woods’ nerdy side.

Tiger Woods and Jason Day have shared a great relationship ever since the arrival of Day on the PGA Tour. The Australian won his first and only Major back in 2015 after defeating Jordan Spieth in the final round to claim the PGA Championship.

Day, who is a former World No. 1, dropped to 150th in the Official World Golf Ranking after more than four years without a PGA Tour victory. However, it appears that he and the 15-time major champion are still communicating effectively.

Jason Day reveals his texts with Tiger Woods

The 34-year-old Australian shared some of his texts with Tiger, with his pro-am playing mates before this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, which prove that Tiger and Jason are simply a couple of golf nerds.

In said texts, Woods has given a detailed explanation to Day about how to keep the right arm out in front of the body. Moreover, the golfers discuss the perfect rotation of the body that needs to be planned out during a golf swing.

In short, there’s a lot of Swing talk. Tiger also shared a video of a golf swing with Jason Day with a message, “I wish I could do this,” which gives a better demonstration of the swing. Day, with a smile on his face, ends by saying, “So that’s my answer to how our conversations go.”

Both golfers share an immense amount of love for the sport. Therefore even while texting, they tend to discuss and try to improve themselves at their craft. Thanks to their passion for the sport, both men have embedded their names on a Major trophy.

Woods and Day’s great friendship

During the time of Jason Day’s maiden Major win, he was beginning to have a lot of hype around him. That same year, he climbed up to the number one rank in the rankings. However, injuries and a continuous poor run of form impeded his growth.

His poor run of form has continued even in recent years. However, earlier this year at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, Day managed to finish the tournament tied at 3rd rank. Many fans and fellow golfers congratulated the Aussie on his finish including his good friend, Tiger Woods.

According to Day, Tiger congratulated him by saying, “Hey man, I know how hard you’ve been working and I know you’re starting to see the work paying off. Well done.” The 46-year-old further added, “People don’t realise how hard it is to climb that mountain and the sacrifices you have to make. Keep going, man.”

Though not as hilarious, but it’s better advice than what Woods gave Day back in 2010, when Day was attempting to finish in the top 50 in the world. The 34-year-old shared a story in 2022 by saying,  “I remember the days of trying to crack into the top 50 and Tiger said to me at the time, ‘I have a bit of advice for you.’ I said, ‘What is it?’ And he said, ‘Play better.’ He laughed at me and walked off and I thought, Fair enough!”

Despite all these years, both stars still have stayed connected. It’s one of those things you love to see. Who amongst both of them has a better shot to win another Major? Let us know in the comments down below.
