Historic! Jin Young Ko Matches 16-Year-Old Staggering LPGA Record En Route to 10th Win
Jin Young Ko secured a record-breaking wire-to-wire win at the Cognizant Founders Cup. The 26-year-old won by four strokes, defending her title in the process. However, given her remarkable form this year, her triumph at the Founders Cup came as no surprise.
This year, she has won the Cambia Portland Classic and Volunteers of America Classic, along with multiple top-ten finishes. Her play at Mountain Ridge Country Club in New Jersey was dominant, with the final round resulting in six birdies and a 66 finish.

For her last round, Ko scored a 66. This made her 14th straight round in the 60s – a feat achieved only by Annika Sorenstam in 2005. Ko has been under 70s since July, the last one being her five-over 76 round while at the Evian Championship on July 24. Her win at New Jersey was so stunning that Caroline Masson was the only player finishing within seven strokes of the South Korean.
Ko’s next event will be the BMW Ladies Championship back home in South Korea, which is being held in the fall due to COVID-19.

History awaits
Ko also took home $450,000 for the win, as the event had doubled its prize money since the last time it was held. That being said, her last win came in 2019 in Phoenix. Notably, the 2020 edition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the title sponsors have also changed.
This was also Ko’s third win this season, making her the only player alongside Nelly Korda to do so. Additionally, she is also the fifth South Korean player to have secured 10 wins. Significantly, she is within 10 points of Nelly Korda in Race to the CME Globe. As Korda has pulled out from the event in Busan, Ko can overtake her on the points list.
