Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren were highly regarded as one of the sports’ most powerful couples. However, their marriage came crashing down after Tiger’s extramarital affairs became public. Nonetheless, despite being under massive public scrutiny, the golfer got back with his ex-wife on better terms and even claimed to be best friends after divorcing each other.

After being in a relationship for three years, Woods tied the knot with Nordegren in 2004. However, five years later, a report revealed Tiger cheated on the Swedish model with nearly 120 women. Though the couple was under massive scrutiny, they had a peaceful agreement in the end.

Tiger Woods wished for an honest relationship with his ex-wife

Following Woods’ cheating revelations, the golfer’s public reputation was affected immensely. Nonetheless, as years passed, the fans as well as Elin Nordegren forgave the 15-time Major winner. While speaking to The Time in 2015, Tiger Woods revealed how he regrets his mistakes.

“In hindsight, it’s not how I would change 2009 and how it all came about,” he said. “It would be having a more open, honest relationship with my ex-wife.” Woods further addressed how he frequently had phone calls with Nordegren.

“She’s one of my best friends. We’re able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time”, he said. After labeling his ex-wife as one of his best friends, the Hall of Famer then shared the main reason behind the close bond between the exes.

What is Tiger and Elin’s top priority?

As he further shared details about his newfound relationship with his ex, Woods talked about how much his two children, Sam and Charlie, meant to the couple. “We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids. I wish I would have known that back then”, said Tiger.

While co-parenting their kids, Woods and Nordegren share more details about each other’s life on phone calls. Moreover, they even try to help each other out. The golfer said, “We try to help each other out on all occasions. And we work through it with the kids, the parenting program”.

In the end, the 15-time Major winner reiterated about having his ex-wife as his best friend. “We’ve worked so hard”, said Tiger while talking about the co-parenting duty. Though the interview occurred in 2015, the ex-couple still remained best friends. Moreover, Nordegren is also seen publicly spending time with Tiger’s current girlfriend Erica Herman.

Though many might question Nordegen for her decision to remain close to Woods, at the end of the day, the former couple is looking for what’s best for their children. Perhaps, Tiger and Elin can lead as an example for everyone who’s co-parenting.
