‘Hope This Isn’t a Joke’: Golf Fans Goes Wild as Happy Gilmore Confirmed to Get a Reboot

After a long wait and countless requests for a sequel to ‘Happy Gilmore’, Christopher McDonald has finally revealed the news that the fans are indeed getting one! Exciting news, isn’t it? According to Shooter McGavin, the second part of this comedic classic is on its way to the 3D world.

In the latest episode of The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima, McDonald opened up about the reboot of the classic movie and shed some light on his meeting with Adam Sandler. “I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says, ‘McDonald, you’re going to love this… How about that?’ And he goes and shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2,” said the golfer turned actor.

At first, McDonald had hard time believing it, and thought the Sandler was lying. But once he saw the draft, he was in awe, said “wow, that would be awesome. So it’s it’s in it’s in the works fans have demanded.”

McDonald, also known as Shooter McGavin, is a former No. 1 golfer who showcased his acting talents in Happy Gilmore and was absolutely adored by the fans. Released on February 16, 1996, the Adam Sandler movie was about a failed hockey player who wanted to save his grandmother’s house and approached golf with his unique game style. The movie was directed by Dennis Dugan and has been very popular among golf fans since its release.

Now that the beans have been spilled all over, fans loving it, and are absolutely unable to contain their excitement.

“A few days early to be April Fool’s,” wrote another fan as they sounded a bit skeptical. Fans are having a hard time believing the news since the movie is underway after a huge gap since its first release.

A third fan commented, “There should be a Shooter McGavin spin-off made,”  making it seem like they are more into the ‘McGavin’ character and want to explore his backstory.

Sharing a similar happy feeling, another golf fan wrote, “Hope this comes to fruition.” There is a lot of similar hopeful expectation among the fans, who are expecting even more after this announcement.

Furthermore, the next golf enthusiast expressed his views. “This would be absolutely amazing.” The comments on this post display the popularity of this movie among the viewers and how much they are appreciating the sequel.

It seems like the wait is over for this next fan, as they cherished the news, “This is legendary—monumental to say the least!”

Building on the news and probably being a prank, one fan wrote, “I hope this isn’t a joke, and I hope Sandler is producing it and a part of it.”

However, this golf fan had a sarcastic warning as well in the hopes of not getting a classic movie ruined and commented, “Oof, don’t touch a classic unless it’s going to be good!”
