It has been a couple of days since Brooks Koepka became the first LIV pro to win a major title. But, the uproar surrounding his victory is only getting stronger by the day. Just hours after his win, Koepka’s coach blasted members of the media, including a Golf Channel analyst, for their treatment of the Saudi-backed golf league.

The famed swing coach even received support from none other than 6-time major winner and LIV pro Phil Mickelson. But, the matter refuses to die down, as the renowned analyst took to Twitter on Wednesday to send a 538-word retort to the renowned golf coach!

Claude Harmon III, who most recently guided Brooks Koepka to his 5th major victory, took a couple of swings himself after the golfer’s memorable win. Harmon’s actions, however, were aimed at the media, as he called them out for their alleged mistreatment of LIV golfers.

In his interview with Golfweek, the swing coach particularly targeted broadcasters Eamon Lynch and Brandel Chamblee, who had earlier accused LIV pros like Mickelson of “sports washing” for the Saudi-Arabian regime. He had even referred to Chamblee as a “paid actor” for the NBC and Golf Channel. A former pro-golfer, Chamblee has now hit back in a 538-word-long tweet.

Much like sportswashing, its sole goal is to obfuscate,” the analyst said of the swing coach’s accusations. The 60-year-old further dismissed Harmon’s comments saying, “no one for whom I work with or for has ever tried to influence what I am going to say.”

While the former pro-golfer found Koepka’s win to be “impressive,” he stressed that LIV pros were “being used for the benefit of some very bad people.” Chamblee even brought up Oak Hill hero Michael Block, in his strongly-worded retort, saying that the club pro was a “stark reminder” of what is amiss in LIV Golf and will be missing in PGA Tour’s small field, designated events in the coming year.

Earlier this week, Chamblee had expressed that Koepka shouldn’t be a part of the 2023 Ryder Cup competition. His comments further fueled the LIV vs. PGA battle and set the ball rolling for the ongoing drama.

Phil Mickelson backs Claude Harmon III after his fiery rant

Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee, has always been an outspoken critic of LIV Golf and its players. Despite stellar performances from LIV pros in the Masters and the PGA Championship, he got into a heated exchange with fellow analyst Brad Faxon, about Koepka’s chances in this year’s Ryder Cup. While Faxon believed that the 3-time Wanamaker Trophy winner deserved a chance, Chamblee vehemently disagreed.

His comments, however, did not sit well with Koepka’s swing coach, Claude Harmon III. Harmon expressed that it was hypocritical of Chamblee and Golfweek columnist Eamon Lynch, to use “sportswashing” after “the company they work for televised the last two Winter Olympics in Russia and China with the same leaders that they’ve had.” “It’s not like they were good leaders back then,” he further said.

His fiery interview with Golfweek even had Mickelson singing praises of the great Butch Harmon’s son. In his rant, Harmon also expressed frustration with the negative portrayal of the LIV defector, saying that fans were crazy about Mickelson no matter where he went. Earlier, the 52-year-old had called out Lynch on Twitter for his criticism of the LIV pro. Now, fans await to see if he will react to Chamblee’s latest comments as well.
