With its vast courses and lucrative prizes, golf is undoubtedly one of the most popular sports. Another aspect of golf is that every player has an equal chance to excel. Be it Rory McIlroy, or any other amateur golfer, the four days of golf decide the winner of the event. These competitions are crucial for golfers, especially young ones, to leave their stamp on history. Every now and then, we hear new players take the field by storm with their excellence.
For many players, after witnessing the game for so long and now taking part in it, it’s a dream come true. And for a young Irishman, the opportunity comes at last in the form of the Horizon Irish Open.

Conor Purcell sets his sights on the Irish Open
The 2023 Horizon Irish Open is all set to kick off at the K Club in County Kildare, Ireland. The golfers will compete against one another in an effort to win a share of the $6 million prize fund.
For the first time, Conor Purcell is teeing up at the Horizon Irish Open. He got his invitation after impressing on the Challenge Tour. He also finished his career high in the DP World Tour’s Australian Open, where he earned a seventh place for himself.
For Purcell, it must be a surreal feeling to get a chance to show his game at the Irish Open. “It’s huge, when you are growing up playing golf in Ireland you are always seeing the Irish Open every year and it has been a huge event on the European Tour for years so it’s great to tee it up here for the first time,” said Purcell.

McIlroy’s amazing shot on the 16th hole to claim the title
McIlory finished the 2016 Irish Open with a 12-under 276 total. On the final day, the Irish golfer finished with a score of 69, while Russell Knox, his closest challenger, finished second with a score of 68.
Knox had initially gained the lead. However, McIlroy was able to retake the lead with a spectacular shot that resulted in a birdie on the 16th hole.
Recently, in a press conference, Harrington talked about McIlroy’s 16th hole. “It’s easy to hit a great shot when you’re feeling good. It’s difficult to hit a good shot when you’re feeling bad,” said three-time major champion, praising McIlroy.
