Hours After Withdrawing From Drive On Championship, Danielle Kang Drops Another Disappointing Health Update About Her “Severe” Condition

The LPGA Tour has been gaining a lot of traction of late. With the sport of golf rapidly growing, both the players and the tour itself have been garnering a lot more attention than in the past. With it, women golfers are under the spotlight more often than not. One of those fan favorites is Danielle Kang, who recently left her fans worried as she dropped out of the Drive On Championship. And now she had an even more devastating health update for them!

The San Francisco native has been dealing with health issues for some time now. After revealing that she had participated at the US Women’s Open last year with a tumor in her spine, she took some time off to heal. However, she made her return to the tour soon. But she again started suffering from health issues and now released a major update.

On Thursday this week, as all the players headed onto the course at Superstition Mountains Golf & Country Club for the Drive On Championship, Kang was among their ranks. Having placed third at the HSBC Women’s Championship last week, she was undoubtedly looking to capitalize on her hot streak and secure a win this week. But unfortunately, things didn’t go her way!

During the first round of the event, Kang suddenly withdrew and headed straight to the hospital. Hours later, she sent out an update to her worried fans explaining her situation. Posting a photo on her story of an IV in her arm on Instagram, she revealed that she had visited the ER for “respiratory infection and severe nausea.”

The golf pro was disappointed that she had to withdraw from the tournament but was certain that there was no other way. “I thought with some medicine I can push through this week but now I see that it was a bit too ambitious,” she wrote. She found out the hard way that her condition was more than just a “hiccup” and that just being stubborn and pushing through wouldn’t help.

The one-time major winner went on to thank the Tour and her colleagues for “understanding” and supporting her through this rough patch. “Just wanted to thank everyone that keeps cheering me on through my ups and downs,” she wrote. “Thank you to my playing partners InGee & Jen for being patient with me on the course as well.”

She further went on to explain how long she expected her recovery to take. “With some rest the next few days, hopfully the nausea will subside and will be back to playing some golf again,” she stated. It seems like the 6-time LPGA winner should be up and running in just a couple of days if all goes well. Perhaps fans will be able to catch a glimpse of her at the LA Open next week!
