Will Zalatoris has seen one roller coaster of a career already. He shot up into OWGR’s top 50 in April 2021 at just 24, ranking 46th as compared to 672nd in 2020. Since then, he’s earned a place among the top names on the PGA Tour. There were hurdles too, with narrowly missed victories, including the 2022 PGA Championship, and plaguing injuries from time to time. Throughout these ups and downs, however, one thing that remained constant for him was his support from the bleachers!

Zalatoris’ wife, Caitlyn Sellers, has been by his side, attending the majority of his golf tournaments regularly! From the TPC Colorado Championship, where he won in 2020, to his maiden PGA Tour win at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, she’s been on the greens with him. Interesting, however, is that he owes her presence in his life to Arnold Palmer, a man he never once met!

In a recent interview with The Toronto Observer, Zalatoris, who’s tied for third at the current Arnold Palmer Invitational with just one round to go, opened up about how he owes the golf legend a lot. Back in the day, Arnold Palmer, who studied at and played for Wake Forest University, initiated a scholarship at the college, giving amateur golfers a chance to attend the North Carolina college.

Will Zalatoris was one of the recipients of this scholarship, and that truly changed his life. In 2018, he received the certificate to play and study there, and had it not been for it, his golfing career arguably would have never taken off. And what’s more, neither would his love life, for he met his wife at Wake Forest!

Despite never even having Palmer, the 27-year-old knows he is indebted to him for life, for both his life on and off the course. “The guy’s meant a lot to me personally and my career and led me to Wake Forest. The guy’s meant a lot to my career—I met my wife at Wake Forest,” said the PGA Tour star in the interview.

Zalatoris and Sellers met during his first year at Uni, and now, six years later, they’re still going strong. While not supporting him on the greens, she works as a marketing analyst in Texas. The couple has had a magical transition from being best friends in college to promising each other a lifetime together.

After dating for 3 years, Zalatoris got down on his knees and finally popped the question in 2021. The overjoyed sellers obviously said yes! A year later, the duo got married in an intimate ceremony. He shared the news with his fans about it through his Instagram on December 13, 2022.

Before announcing the wedding, Zalotoris even called it “the best day of his life.” And clearly, over a year later, he feels no differently. The couple has no children as of now and seems to be enjoying their 20s, focusing on their careers and each other. And perhaps, whenever they get the chance, they will continue to thank Arnold Palmer for it all!
