Golf is among the highest-paying sports in the world. After winning a particular event, professionals take home huge paychecks and earn a significant amount through their endorsements. In this piece, we dive deeper and find out how many golf professionals have crossed the billion mark in career earnings and net worth.

Only three professional golfers have reached a billion figures in their career earnings. Those three players are Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer.

  • Tiger Woods: According to Celebrity Net Worth, as of 2019, the 15-time major championship winner’s total career earnings stand at a whopping $1.6 billion. Notably, the World Golf Hall of Fame member’s career earnings on the PGA Tour is $120,895,206. As a result, Woods leads the list, and the figures are updated as of last week’s Tour event, the Charles Schwab Challenge. His total earnings for the 2020-2021 season stood at $73.5 million.

    Apart from winning, a significant fraction of Woods’ earnings come from his endorsements with various big companies. He received a whopping $65 million through brand endorsements from 10 companies, including some big names like Nike, Rolex, Bridgestone, Monster Energy, and Hero MotoCorp. He also has marketing deals with Taylormade, GolfTV, Full Swing Simulators, Kowa, and Centinel Spine.

  • Jack Nicklaus: Along with Woods is the golden bear. The 18-time major championship winner is probably among the most successful golfers and was a part of the Big Three. As per Celebrity Net Worth, his career earnings sit at $1.5 billion, and he is the fourth-highest paid athlete of all time.

    However, most of his career earnings have not come from PGA Tour winnings but from brand endorsements. His Tour earnings are at $5,734,031. The golden bear has endorsement deals with various big companies, such as Rolex and Perry Ellis. He also owns a golf course design company, namely, Nicklaus Design, and his line of golf balls.

    The King is among the famous names in the sport and is arguably one of the greatest players of all time. He had accumulated career earnings worth $1.3 billion after adjusting for inflation. The majority of his earnings came from endorsements and marketing deals. He owns the Bay Hill Lodge & Country Club, the proud host of his event. Like Nicklaus, he too owns a golf course designing company called Palmer Course Design, which has designed world-class facilities all over the globe.

 Is any professional a billionaire in terms of net worth?

None of the pro golfers have a billionaire net worth. However, only Tiger Woods has a net worth of close to a billion. The former World No. 1 has a net worth of $800 million. Apart from earning through endorsements, Woods owns a $25 million yacht. He also owns a Gulfstream G550 private jet worth $54 million and a 12-acre property in Jupiter. His house in Florida is worth up to $75 million.
