Jon Rahm announced the birth of his child on October 1 in a short post on his social media profile. “So blessed to have welcomed our daughter Alaia Cahill Rahm into the world last week. Mama and baby girl are both healthy and doing great; I can’t wait to get back home to them.” Congratulatory messages poured in from LIV Golf, his team, Legion XIII, and Ryder Cup Europe’s official X handle.
Alaia, however, was born last week, as Marca reported. The name in Basque means ‘joyful’ and ‘happy’. Jon Rahm, although he has made Scottsdale his home after marriage with Kelley Cahill, is from Barrika, a basque province in Spain, some 236 miles from the Spanish capital of Madrid.

“No matter where I am and what I’m doing, if the phone rings, I’m flying back, and I’m going back home to be there for the birth of my son. Before anybody asks, Yes, if I’m at Augusta and I’m playing well and she starts getting, you know, starts, I’m flying back.” Before Scottie Scheffler famously said he would leave Augusta if Meredith went into labor, Jon Rahm uttered these words in 2021. Jon Rahm was in Arizona as his wife went into labor. He had a tournament to play in his home country. One that was necessary to keep his DP World Tour card and 2025 Ryder Cup hopes alive. Rahm arrived a bit late in Spain, skipping the Pro-Am. Arriving late did not affect his game much, as he was able to push a playoff against the winner of the Open de Espana.
Now once again he will tee off at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, his third DPWT tournament this year, including the Olympics. Rahm will not be taking paternity leave, as after Alfred Dunhill, he will be teeing off at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters. Even with his busy schedule, there is no doubt what Jon Rahm wants more than anything now. Spending time with his newborn.
