“I love winning. I hate losing,” admitted a confident Scottie Scheffler in an interview following the final round of the Masters. Well, he sure did end up winning and doing what he loved, as he garnered his second Masters victory in three years. However, it seems there is another person who managed to taste the success as well, all the while pushing the golfer towards his 9th PGA Tour win, none other than Ted Scott, his caddie.

Interestingly, when asked how he felt about the win in the post-round press conference, Scheffler’s looper couldn’t help but convey his gratitude for the success that came his way. Naturally so, since this becomes the professional’s third win from his last four events, making him the highest-earning bagman on the PGA Tour.

“I’ve just been very fortunate that great people will take me on as their caddie as other parts of my life,” said Scott as he expressed his gratitude for the golfers he caddied for in his career. Elaborating on the same, he added, “I’ve worked for some incredible golfers. Scottie is just added to the list, and now it’s just incredible to be a part of it,” while especially alluding to the current No. 1 on the OWGR and Bubba Watson, among others, the two along with whom he clinched a total of four Masters wins.

Meanwhile, the Scheffler-Scott duo experienced three wins and a T2 finish in the last 35 days, the former of which was a back-to-back victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the PLAYERS Championship. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old finished runner-up at the Texas Children’s Houston Open tied with four other professionals, thereby awarding him a cut of $553,735. This, along with the earnings from his victories, adds up to a total of $12,653,735 alone in on-course earnings in the past month since the 2024 API, which calculates to $361,535 per day.

However, as per the typical pay scale for caddies on Tour, 10% and 7% of the golfer’s cut goes to the looper in case of a win or a top-10 finish, respectively. Consequently, just from the last four events in which Scheffler participated, Ted Scott has thus managed to earn a figure of $1,210,000 from the three wins, along with $38,761.45 for the American’s T2 finish at the Houston Open, totaling an amount of $1,248,761.45 making him the highest-earning caddie for a golfer on the Jay Monahan-led circuit.

This is nothing short of a huge success for the talented looper. What’s more, his record of a rare-four Masters titles, along with his humongous pay package, makes him the most successful bagman on the Jay Monahan circuit. Well, he couldn’t believe his situation either.

Scheffler’s caddie expresses disbelief at the win

“Honestly, I’m just pinching myself.” – exclaimed Ted Scott in disbelief when asked about the title he helped Scottie Scheffler win at Augusta National. Adding on, he expressed that he doesn’t have the faintest idea how he gets to do this. Moving on, he also recounted some advice someone gave him when he was younger; “When I was 19 years old, a guy by the name of Ryan Smith told me, if you want to get better at something, find people who are better at you and spend time with them.”

Well, stay true to the guidance! we currently see him following the same as his life motto, keeping close to the world No. 1. Moreover, apart from the current season’s spoils, he was also able to garner a whopping $1.8 million as earnings back in 2023, all thanks to the 17 top-10 finishes, including two wins that Scheffler was able to rake in. Regardless, if the pair’s history on the course has taught us anything, it’s that the show is not yet over since only four months have passed in the 2024 PGA Tour calendar, with many more events to go!
