It isn’t uncommon for Korda to openly talk about the friendships she shares. In the past, Korda has mentioned her friends in her interviews, praising them for their gameplay and often sharing some moments from their personal lives. Talking about something similar in a recent event, an LPGA friend has apologized to Korda for a bizarre reason. Here’s what Korda has confessed.

The 2023 Maybank Championship is all set to take place this weekend. The LPGA girls have already landed in Malaysia, and prior to their weekend game, the stars sat down for a Q&A session with the media. LPGA posted snippets from the press conference on their Instagram, updating the fans about what awaits them this Thursday.  

In the posted clip, Angel Yin is heard talking about her schedule after her latest win in Shanghai and how she finds it hard to reply to people on time. While she answered, Nelly Korda humorously added, “Including me.” Taking it up from there, Yin continued and added, “She’s like, ‘You didn’t reply to me,’ I was like, ‘I am sorry!’” 

The caption under the post reads: “Nelly’s still waiting for Angel to respond to her congratulations text after Angel’s first win 😂.”

The moment was a worthy feat in Angel Yin’s LPGA career, and while the encounter is humorous, Korda’s congratulatory text holds a deeper meaning in this context. The golfer congratulated Yin for her first win at a site where she also scored her first LPGA Tour win.

Nelly Korda won the Swinging Skirts LPGA Championship in 2018 in China, and this marked her first win on the LPGA Tour. The victory propelled her into the top 20 that year with a total of 1,557 points.

Earlier this month, Angel Yin secured her first-ever LPGA Tour victory in China. She defeated top-ranked player Lilia Vu in a playoff. This victory marked Yin’s breakthrough in her 159th tour start.
