Fred Couples praised Tiger Woods for his performance at the Presidents Cup

The captain chose Tiger Woods to play the last point of the tournament on behalf of the team. And as everyone expected, Woods beat the International team with a score of 19-15 to win the Presidents Cup in Melbourne. It was because of Woods that the US team got the 18 points that they required to defend the cup. Although the US team lost the first four matches after going into the singles. But in the end, Woods sealed victory in the intense final match.

It was US Captain Fred Couples’ second victory as a captain. And he was the one who knew that Woods was the only one who could assure their victory. He said“For Tiger to get the winning point makes us feel very good as a team.” He added, “I don’t think I’ve ever been vindicated in golf, but I feel like I know what I’m doing. When I picked Tiger a month early, he worked six to eight hours a day on his game.”

Woods received appreciation from many other players on the team. And Fred Couples and the entire team dedicated the tournament win to their best golfer. Although Couples mentioned that he received some criticism for selecting Woods for the final points in the game, his decision proved to be the right one for the team.
