Now the question arises, why did the European tour remember to comment on Poulter, and how did the LIV player react to the accusations? Let’s find out what happened at the LIV Golf team championship press conference.
Was Ian Poulter mad at Rory McIlroy?
Joining the LIV and leaving the legacy of the PGA tour behind, McIlroy called the action of Poulter a betrayal. After his comments, the reporter asked the Ryder Cup hero about his reaction to the betrayal comment of the Ireland pro golfer. Poulter denied the word betrayal as he said there is no official news of us not playing the Ryder Cup. He was still part of it, and if it weren’t the case, he would try hard to be part of the Ryder Cup.
Talking about the accusation of pushing the future of the Ryder Cup in the dark, Poulter lashed out. He said the commitment to Ryder Cup is way above himself. The loyalty to Ryder still exists, and no one should question that. He said, “I don’t think that should ever come in question.” Justifying his statement, former no.5 said that his passion could never be questioned regarding the Ryder Cup.
