‘I Don’t Want to Be a Controversial Figure’: Bryson DeChambeau Names His Honest Goal for 2022

Controversies were following Bryson DeChambeau everywhere in 2021. From his controversial remarks on covid-19 vaccination to his feud with a fellow golfer, DeChambeau had more than what he had asked for.
“I don’t want to be a super-controversial figure. I just want to be someone that people can look up to and aspire to be like, or inspire them to work harder. That’s really all I want,” said Bryson in an interview when they asked what’s his expectations for 2022 are.

DeChambeau explained that the people had big expectations for him after the US Open Championship. However, those expectations turned to criticism after Bryson couldn’t perform well at the Masters.

The young golfer added that he thinks he couldn’t perform well, mostly because of those expectations. The pressure was high on him, and he couldn’t live up to what the others were hoping for.
Bryson further added that he doesn’t want to be just the long driver but a better chipper and putter. “Be me! Don’t try and be anybody else,” added DeChambeau.

DeChambeau explained that after he was tested positive in the covid test and couldn’t participate in the Olympics, he felt sad. Olympics and everything that happened at FedEx was the low moment of his life.

During the prematch press meeting of WGC -FedEx St. Jude Invitational, Bryson gave some illogical reasons for not getting covid vaccination. He said that he is young and strong so, he doesn’t need the vaccination but the old. He received a lot of criticism for this statement.

Bryson added that because of these events, he started a YouTube channel. YouTube became a medium where Bryson could show people his life outside golf, the real him. DeChambeau had to receive a lot of criticism in the past year. However, he wants to change this and have a controversy-free year ahead.
