‘I Have a Life Outside’: Paige Spiranac Was Triggered After Lexi Thompson’s Infamous Controversy in 2017

Paige Spiranac has always been honest with her opinion about everything going on in the sports world. The ex-golfer has millions of fans all over the world and has made a huge name for herself on social media. But there are times when people try to stand against the social media star and make issues out of the things she posts. And similarly, a fan once tried to involve golf legend, Lexi Thompson, in something that Spiranac tweeted about.

Fan tried to strike controversy between Paige Spiranac and Lexi Thompson

Lexi Thompson is one of the most well-known players in the world of golf. The 27-year-old has tons of records in her name. One of the things that differentiate Thompson from other players is that she was the youngest player to qualify for the US Women’s Open at the age of 12.

Spiranac has been the biggest supporter of women’s golf ever since she joined as a professional golfer. Moreover, even after quitting her career as a golfer, Spiranac always talks in favor of women and the sport. However, there was a time when she wrote something on Twitter that, according to a fan, was pointed toward Lexi Thompson. It was in 2017 when Spiranac tweeted, “I don’t understand why people lie to get ahead. It always catches up to you”.

In reaction to her tweet, a fan decided to involve Lexi Thompson based on his own assumptions and wrote, “Shots fired Lexi”. But Spiranac replied, “Definitely not directed at her” and thought it was over. But little did she know what the fan was going to do next. The same person decided to mention that golfer in his next tweet and wrote, “Hi (Lexi), just thought you should know (Paige Spiranac) was firing shots your way”.

But Spiranac didn’t stay quiet this time either. She replied, much stronger this time, and said, “Dude just stop. I defended her and have her back regarding the situation. It wasn’t directed at her. I have a life outside of golf.”. Her statement cleared that the tweet was not pointed toward Thompson, but rather toward someone she knew off the field.

Spiranac once opened up about the time she was in her college during her junior golfing days. “I grew up with like…Lexi Thompson, like we were all playing together” she said. She also mentioned being around other top players and how they were all very supportive of each other.

All of this also added up to Spiranac’s true feelings towards other golfers, including Thompson. And how she could never say such things about the golf superstar.
