The LIV Golf Invitational Series, the rival league of the PGA Tour, will begin on June 9. Although players like the former world No. 1, Dustin Johnson has committed to it despite the Tour’s restrictions, the 33-year-old Rickie Fowler hasn’t done it. However, will he stay on the Tour in the future as well? Would he consider playing for the Saudi-backed golf league? 

“I haven’t ruled it out,” Fowler answered when an interviewer asked him what would it take him to play in the league. “I don’t know what it would take to commit,” he added. The golfer explained his stance with the league in Full Send Podcast, in which he appeared as a guest. 

“I’m a little bit more to someone that’s sitting here on the couch and spectating for now,” he added. 

The LIV Golf Invitational Series begins next week, and as per their field list, four of the world’s top 50 golfers are a part of it. Notably, the players like Dustin Johnson and Lee Westwood have committed to the league despite the Tour rejecting their application for the release. 

Following LIV Golf releasing its field of players, the Tour declared that they would take disciplinary actions against those players who have committed to the rival league.

Rickie Fowler revealed what will make him stay with the PGA Tour!

Fowler turned pro in 2009 and joined the PGA Tour the following year. In his 12 years of career with the Tour, he has won 5 titles, including the 2015 PLAYERS Championship. Notably, the last time he won a Tour was in 2019 at the WM Phoenix Open.

“I still believe the PGA Tour is the best place to play,” Fowler said in the podcast. “And I would love to see it continue,” he added. “But I do think there’s there’s stuff that could change or evolve.” 

“Basically, they own all our name and likeness,” the 5-time PGA Tour winner said. “And that kind of goes back to are we independent contractors or employees,” he further added. “I’m not sure how that’s going to really play out.” 

Interestingly, this was not the first time Fowler questioned whether the Tour players are independent contractors or not. He asked it in the press meet before the 2022 PGA Championship.
