For Mickelson, family always comes first

The golf world understood Mickelson’s love for his family early in his career when he almost abandoned the 1999 US Open. His wife was about to give birth to his firstborn, and he didn’t want to miss it, even if it meant missing a major event. He had made his caddie carry a beeper throughout the tournament to let him know if she went into labor.
